Preparation for your colon hydrotherapy session:

·        It is recommended that you ramp up your water intake for a few days prior to a colonic.  For your comfort, refrain from eating solid food for at least 2 – 3 hours prior to the colonic. Feel free to have some juice or water right up to the appointment time.  Avoid eating “gas forming” foods for the day before your appointment (beans, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, raw apples or onions, cucumbers, melons, bananas, peppers, and carbonated beverages).

·        Edgar Cayce often recommended that castor oil packs be applied to the abdomen prior to having a colonic.  His regimen was to use the warm pack for an hour each, 3 consecutive nights prior to the colonic.  Before retiring each evening, take 1 – 2 teaspoons of olive oil by mouth (or 2 tablespoons of olive oil on the third night).  Alternatively, a castor oil pack may be applied for the hour prior to the colonic.  The castor oil will help loosen pocket matter, move lymph, and reduce inflammation.

·        If you have not had a recent bowel movement, a two-quart water enema the evening before your appointment may be helpful.

·        Another idea for the evening before your appointment is to take 1 tablespoon of olive oil by mouth (on an empty stomach) at bedtime.  Lay on your right side for awhile so that the oil will pass into the intestines quickly. Olive oil is an excellent lubricant and a mild laxative and stool softener, and is safe to use anytime.

·        You may wish to do a “cleanse” or “fast” prior to your session.  Please talk to the therapist about this when making your appointment.  Most fasts (depending on length and strictness) will cause the body to dump toxins into the colon.  Colonics would be very helpful at the beginning and during the fasting process (depending on its length) – you will feel better and have more stamina, and you will avoid auto-intoxication.

·        If you have any questions about preparing for your colonic, please ask the colon hydrotherapist.

Post-Colonic Suggestions:

·        Avoid gas-forming foods for two days after your colonic session. Eat more laxative foods, such as salads, steamed vegetables, raw fruit (except banana), juices, soups, fish and chicken.  Fresh beet and carrot juice (combined) is very beneficial.

·        To continue flushing the kidneys & colon after the colonic, drink water with fresh lemon juice added to each glass.

·        Avoid strenuous exercise.

·        It may be helpful to have yogurt with live cultures or a probiotic supplement for several days (not required unless you have 3 or more colonics in a short period of time).

·        Your next normal elimination is usually 1 – 3 days after your colonic session. But, don’t be surprised if you have a bowel movement today or tomorrow. Any excess water in the colon will be at work softening the matter.
